I have recently heard from my friends that silly bandz cause cancer. I have a lot and i don't want to get rid of them. So, is it true?

their are some products that can cause skin cancer and in america we dont allow them but in some countries they do, and they are made in japan, where they allow it. It might be able to but i dont think it will happen soon i think it would take months or years. i already stoped wearing them.

nope, dont cause skin cancer. the only thing that happens is if you have alot of them, and have them on too tight it will cause blood clots and stuff. but if you have on like somewhere from 1-10 of them, you got nothin to worry about

jess. the websight did not say anything about skin cancer, it says somethin about the blood flow, not cancer….i am wearin a silly band right now, and last time i checked i am not melting.

I’ve heard old tha scented, glow and the dark ones cause skin cancer and I’ve wore the glow in the dark ones for about 2 months and nuttin happened who ever says they cause skin cancer STFU! lmbo
I would like to know how all of you can emphatically say that Silly Bandz do not cause cancer. Unless you are a medical doctor, you are not qualified to give your answer. Just to correct some of you, Silly Bandz are not made out of rubber. They are made out of silicone. No one can definitely say, right now, if they cause cancer, but I haven’t seen any studies or news reports to say they do. Decide for yourself whether you want to wear them or not, do not base your decision on what someone else thinks or says. The only harm that I know has come from them is from kids wearing too many, for too long, and tight enough to affect circulation, but anything you wear tight can affect your circulation, not just Silly Bandz. I’m sure eventually someone, somewhere will do a study to determine whether they cause cancer, but for the time being, if you wear them, just be careful, don’t wear them for too long, DON’T FALL ASLEEP with them on, and don’t wear so many that they get tight on your wrist.
I don’t know whether or not Silly Bandz cause cancer, but that kinda scares me, simply because I wear like 18 on each wrist, and even though I stretch them out before putting them on, and I don’t fall asleep with them on, my brother wears like 40 total, and I don’t feel comfortable letting him wear them if they cause cancer. To all those doctors out there who are testing Silly Bandz for cancer-related issues, can you publish the results sooner rather than later?

My son wears Silly Bandz faithfully and this is something that I was recently told. I have look all over the internet and found that this statement is incorrect. Silly bandz could affect the circulation if a child wears them around their arm for hours at a time but this could happen to anyone who wears a tight rings, bracelets, etc… I suggest that you make your kids take the bandz off at night. They should be fine.
